CAT means Computer Aided Translation and it finds more and more of use for industry. The CAT software offers enormous advantages both for translator:
- there is no need to format translated documentation;
- automation of operation with terms;
- it provides access to online databases and ensures absolute consistency of terminology;
and customer:
- reduction in subsequent translation costs as a result of the automatic preliminary translation carried out on follow-up projects;
- ability to speed up translation process sharing the work among several translators without prejudice to the translation quality or consistency;
- creation of terminology databases and translation memory to use them in future translations.

We have been successfully using the CAT software during several years. However, there are some preconditions for using of the CAT such as appropriate file format, document structure and ongoing requirements of follow-up translations.
